Our Research Projects
The LABORATORY OF PUBLIC HEALTH ENTOMOLOGY, Department of Zoology, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, has proved excellence in research by signing a MoU with Godrej Consumer Products Ltd., Mumbai, India, regarding assessing repellency testing of Mosquito repellent products Patches, Roll on, and Gel produced at Godrej, Mumbai. The Repellency testing was done by following Chattopadhyay et.al (2013 &WHO-2009) and mixed in human landing catch method (since it was a semi field trial (WHO-2013).WHO/HTM/NPD /WHOPES/2009.4 (2.2) and (3.2) Guidelines for efficacy testing of mosquito repellants for human skin.
The laboratory is working under the guidence of Dr. Arti Prasad , Professor & Head of the Department of Zoology, University College of Science, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. She is also co-ordinator of Diploma in Public Health Entomology (DPHE), DST-FIST and DRS UGC-SAP. Currently, She is working in the field of vector and vector borne disease control and their management specially by mosquito borne diseases. She visited in many countries: France, Singapore, China, USA and UAE as invited speaker in International conferences. She got many as Best Scientist Award in Environment Science, Erasmus Mundus European Award for faculty development by European nation (France),V P Sharma Gold medal by Society of Arthropodology For best work in public health and Best Scientist award for Desert Ecology by National Academy of Vector Borne diseases, Bhubaneshwar. She has completed 7 project funded by renowned institutes like ICMR, New Delhi, DMRC, Jodhpur and Godrej Consumer Product Ltd. Mumbai while 6 projects are ongoing funded by RUSA and Supported by World Health Organization (WHO). She has supervised 15 Ph.D. and 2 post doc while 10 students are perusing Ph.D. on different aspects of public health and vector borne diseases.
