“Vector and Vector borne diseases- Challenges in 21st century: Their Global Impact and Strategic Management“
The LABORATORY OF PUBLIC HEALTH ENTOMOLOGY, always addressed the serious issue of vector-borne diseases, that contribute to about one-sixth of the global burden of diseases. The initiative was taken a step ahead by organizing an Internal conference on “Vector and Vector borne diseases- Challenges in 21st century: Their Global Impact and Strategic Management “ during 16-18 september 2013 , at Department of Zoology, M.L.S.U., Udaipur.
The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from India and abroad. About 100 invited and oral lectures were presented in the conference. About 20 foreign delegates from different countries turned up for this socially significant cause.
There were 4-planary lectures covering the different areas of the conference: Strategic vision for Malaria elimination in south east Asia by Dr. Leonard Ortega, Regional Adviser,Malaria, SEARO-WHO,New Delhi; Talk on Dengue by A.C. Dhariwal, Director,National Vector borne disease control programme ,New Delhi, Newer Perspective of M.D.A in Elimination of L.F. by Dr. S.K. Kar,Director RMRC, Bhubneswar, Odhisha and Pathogenesis of Severity of DF/DHF/DSS by Prof. Asutosh Biswas, Associate Prof. (Medicine), AIIMS, New Delhi.
Topmost researchers from premier institutions like WHO, Geneva, Vector research institutions from Malaysia, Iran, Pakistan and institutes from India like, ICMR,NIMR,CSIR,AIIMS and some major universities delivered talk on the strategic management and control of Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya etc.
The outcome of conference not only helped scientists all over the world to work in new direction but also helped in proper planning in disease management in the tribal belt.
